Why Are There So Many Down Low Women in The Black Church?

Many people don't like to deal with this issue, but we as strong black women in Christ must deal with this ancient problem.  Admit it or not, there have been many black women on the down low as much as black men.   There has been a bias within our race for too long. In order to save our race, we must admit our issues within the black community, black churches and black families, so the Lord will know we mean business with Him.  Yes, many black women fail to admit they have been on the down low and point the total blame on the black man, but it has been very unhealthy for too long.  We want to respect and uplift the black woman, but in reality, too many black women have failed to earn their trophies of dignity.   Therefore, let us deal with the issue of our series, 'The Chronicles of Down Low Black Women' starting here at Souls Of Black Women, 1st Edition.  Note: In case you've missed it, our sister blog dealt with Women on the Down Low at SoulsofBlackWomen.com, 2nd Edition.

The question we first asked you was why are there so many black women in the black church on the down low?   We may have word it differently than our title, but it's all the same.  So, can you answer us?  If you deny it, then you cannot answer the question, but if you accept the truth, then you can be totally honest and answer it.  For too long, many of us descendants within the black race may have buried the truth about down low women in the black church, simply because we are taught to forgive and not ever mention about how our mother's best-friend who was a preacher may have touched us when we were girls.  Or maybe it was the pastor's wife who touched us and made us promise to keep quiet about it, then when we tried to be friends with her kids, she came up with a lie to make us look like a rebellious child to keep us away.  Or-maybe it was the co-pastor who was also the first lady known to be a secret part-time lesbian who made us keep quiet about touching us, so her husband wouldn't find out she did not go back and dabble in her previous lifestyle.  These are the issues that has destroyed the race of black women and these nasty occurrences may have took place back as early as the 1970's or 80's or even before that time.  Therefore, this is the poison that has spread within the spirits of black women and many of them make mockery of the ones who have been honest enough to admit they are lesbians. Regardless, if we are taught it is wrong to be gay, it is very wrong to get your thrills on and violate young girls, teens and lie about your mischievous deeds by keeping the focus off of yourself by gossiping about black women who are not on the down low.  The next question in conclusion comes to mind, how will we get these lost souls saved from homosexuality, if we have never dealt with this issue within the black church?

Of course, we give honor to our (great) grandmothers, mothers, aunts, sisters, first-ladies, women preachers, and best-friends, but let's be honest about it, let's not only unite and pray away this ancient demon, but no longer cover up this lingering problem that have made too many of our sisters bitter.  These are the type of black women who refuse to return to the black church, because they want to remain free from emotional pain, although they have be bound by sin.
