Police officer, Sherlon Smikle who committed suicide, after murdering wife, allegedly once threatened to sue NYPD. He claimed a black superior called him the N-word. It seems like Smikle could have already been under a lot of stress. When you cannot handle things on the job, then possibly there is trouble within the home. However, committing a homicide and killing yourself is not the answer.
According to NYDailyNews.com, Smikle and his then partner, Blanch O’Neal, announced they were filing a federal lawsuit in 2008 after their sergeant gave them a tongue-lashing for hanging around the 83rd Precinct instead of patrolling Bushwick on a 97-degree day. “Get the f--- out of my office,” Assistant Chief Gerald Nelson, who also is black, reportedly roared. “So what, he called you a n-----? If you can’t handle it, resign.”
Black women, it does hurt for a boss to shout, 'SO WHAT', when you complain about an issue. However, we feel Smikle should have resigned...
