Inspiration for Black Women: Sloane Stephens who beat Serena Williams overcame death of her NFL father by turning to play tennis

Although, we still think Serena Williams is still a champion, its good to share inspirational news of her opponent who beat her.   Sloane Stephens turned to playing tennis when it became too difficult to get over the death of her father, John M. Stephen who was the former New England Patriots running back.  Black women, you need to realize it helps to find something you love to do to beat any sort of depression or oppression in your life.

According to Mail Online,  Sloane's mother, Sybil Smith said, 'Right after she found out [about his death], she cried for about an hour and a half,' before the 16-year-old went outside to hit tennis balls for a couple of hours.  We understand, we should not waste much time to discover ways to defeat depression.  Therefore, as fatherless black women we have got to be strong and realize God will always be our Father and He will never leave nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5).

This 19-year-old champion, Sloane Stephens teaches us we can become a winner, no matter the obstacles we face in life.   Sisters, is there something you think you can be really good at, but have not put it to practice?   Many of us have faced the worst types of tragedies, which may have occurred many years ago.  One of the best ways to not focus on painful situations, such as: the lost of a loved one, a broken relationship, an ugly divorce or even enemies out to hurt you, is to spend time doing something you love to do.   In life, there is no time to allow stress to get the best of us.  When you lose your father at a very young age, it can negatively effect your life as a black woman.  For example, one of our journalists lost her father when she was very young and like Stephens, he was not with her mother at the time of his death.  In the African American race, often times, it is discussed how young black men endure hardships without having a father, but we also have it really bad as black women.   However, we can learn from this celebrity that we are still blessed to have the ability to succeed and not let losing our fathers get us down.  Therefore, it does not matter how old or young you are, you can still be a winner, no matter what emotional distress you may endure.
