Girl, 12, shot on Southwest Side while 'doing her homework'

In the Chicago neighborhood of Marquette Park, this young girl was shot in the leg while sitting on the porch doing her homework.   If you recall, two years ago, a whole family was gunned down in their home, there.   If a child cannot sit on the front porch of her home and do her homework, then it is definitely not a safe place to live.   Even after President Obama got in office, it seems like things are not getting better in the black community, in Chicago.

Of course, we know it is up to the people to change and put down the guns and completely turn from doing bad things.  We just wonder if it would help for the president and first lady to go back and at speak to the youth and adults about putting down their weapons?   Even if they do not want to give a speech there in their home town of Chicago, possibly a national speech would help a bit for the crime that is also going on in other big cities.  This is out of concern for other kids like this young girl who was just doing her homework on the front porch.  Her circumstance could have been much worse.

We are so happy this 12-year-old girl is doing much better and has been released from the hospital.  Our prayers are with she and her family.
